Security Officer

About This Role

This security officer role involves constant surveillance and close observation of secured areas and personnel to detect and report unauthorized acts, unsafe conditions, and property misuse or theft. The position requires monitoring equipment, controlling access, responding to alarms, and preparing security reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct constant or frequent personal surveillance of secured areas
• Closely observe persons within secured areas to detect evidence of damage, misuse, or theft of property
• Monitor equipment deliveries and construction contractor activities
• Conduct close visual inspections of persons and vehicles entering and exiting secured areas to ensure proper documentation
• Report persons suspected of committing illegal or unauthorized acts
• Immediately report any unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions that could cause fires, explosions, collapses, and other hazards
• Prohibit unauthorized personnel and vehicular access to property
• Enforce procedures to report trespassers on property, and be properly trained to apprehend as specified by local post orders
• Monitor and respond to alarm system communications (phone calls, duress alarms, computer-generated alarms, etc.)
• Prepare and submit legible, accurate, and complete security reports and aid investigators as required
• Respond as directed to alarms and company emergencies in a timely manner

Requirements

• Have reliable transportation
• Physically capable of performing the assigned work
• Be able to meet all applicable licensing, registration, and certification requirements in the state in which the officer's assigned facility is located
• Communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of security experience (Preferred)
• Valid Driver’s License and Vehicle
• Security Guard Registration Card

• Shift availability: Swing Shift (Preferred), Grave/Overnight Shift (Preferred), Weekend (Preferred)
• Employment type: Part-time with occasional overtime available
