About the role
JOB SUMMARY: The Scrum Master II will facilitate agile development and how information is exchanged across teams to support delivery. Support the scrum methodology that allows the team to self-organize and make changes quickly, in accordance with agile principles. This person supports that all activities use the principles of the Universal Scrum Framework and guides the team toward improving the way they work to be more effective.
The Scrum Master II removes impediments, internal and external, to the team and guides the team to an optimum, sustainable velocity. Act as servant leader that enables the team to adopt an attitude of continuous improvement. Proactively identifies challenges in production timelines, processes and resourcing and find alternatives that cause a lesser negative impact on the team.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Agile/Scrum Practices
- Leads Digital Production by facilitating agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives and sprint demos.
- Works with the Program Managers, Project Managers, and Scrum Masters to integrate the team’s efforts with other teams.
- Guides the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to drive end value.
- Serves as the team’s Scrum expert. Guides the team toward improving the way they work. Removes impediments to help the team reach an optimum, sustainable velocity.
- Leads the team on self-organizing to fill the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Fosters accountability, transparency, and regularity in status updates. Removes impediments external to the team. Ensures that WorkFront is always up to date to reflect the current state of projects.
- Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
- Supports project management duties, as needed by the business.
Communication/Collaboration
- Communicates and ensures alignment of priorities with Program stakeholders and within the team.
- Builds and supports a trusting and safe environment where challenges are addressed proactively with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating the right information the teams need at the right time.
- Removes impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the blocker.
- Collaborates with Scrum Masters to build and implement cross-team process improvement.
Metrics / Reporting / Miscellaneous
- Manages, publishes, and communicates information radiators and relevant metrics to the team on progress against team objectives.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Information Technology or Communication.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of project management/scrum experience,
- 2+ years as a Scrum Master required;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Required: Certified Scrum Master CSM or SAFe Scrum Master SSM
- Preferred: PMI Agile Certified Practitioner ACP
