About This Role
This hands-on laboratory role involves independently executing and optimizing the synthesis of targeted and non-targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for nucleic acid delivery. The position is for a motivated and detail-oriented Scientist 3 to join the Formulation team, contributing to the company's non-viral delivery platform.
Responsibilities
- Independently execute and optimize the synthesis of targeted and non-targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids for in vitro and in vivo studies
- Lead DoE-based screening campaigns directed toward discovering LNPs, setting LNP composition specifications, and optimizing LNP formulations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (biology, analytics, chemistry, and project management) to advance programs
- Support early-stage formulation development and downstream processing activities, including cryoprotection, scale-up, and stability studies as needed
- Maintain detailed records documenting formulation activities and results
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data in group meetings
- Troubleshoot formulation challenges and continuously improve workflows
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with relevant academic and/or biopharma industry experience; OR a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with 3+ years of industry experience
- 2 or more years of hands-on laboratory experience specializing in LNP formulation and encapsulation of nucleic acids (mRNA, siRNA, or DNA) for in vitro and in vivo studies
- Highly proficient with standard LNP characterization methods, including Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Zeta potential, and Ribogreen assays
- Demonstrated level of expertise in MS Excel
- Hands-on experience with statistical and data analysis software (e.g., JMP, Prism)
- Demonstrated experience in the LNP field in the form of publications and/or patent filings
