Science Teacher

About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses. The role focuses on building professional, nurturing, and positive relationships with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, as well as other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The Science Teacher will inspire children by making subjects and lessons relevant, planning engaging learning opportunities, and managing complex behaviors with consistency and a non-judgmental approach.

Responsibilities

• Build professional, nurturing, and positive relationships with students
• Motivate students
• Inspire children, creating a sense of awe and wonder
• Make subjects and lessons real and relevant to students
• Plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities which challenge and push students
• Manage complex and challenging behaviors
• Provide lots of attention, the right sort of communication, consistency, and flexibility
• Contribute to decision-making that drives the school and provides outcomes for children
• Advocate for every child
• Provide input in developing both the academic curriculum and extra-curricular offer

Requirements

• Science specialist
• Ability to manage complex and challenging behaviors
• Non-judgmental approach
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services
• Undergo due diligence checks on social media use
