Science Teacher

About This Role

Teaching science to students across all year levels is the core of this full-time, ongoing role within the College's Science Department. This position suits a vibrant, passionate, and confident individual committed to helping students reach their full potential, while supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.

Responsibilities

• Implement effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes
• Foster a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth
• Deliver an engaging Science curriculum that develops students’ scientific knowledge, critical thinking and inquiry skills, while encouraging them to apply scientific concepts to real-world contexts and make-evidence based conclusions
• Plan and program for classes within the Science Learning Area to promote learning and involvement
• Assess the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and, where required, maintain contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students
• Meet the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive

Requirements

• Ability to teach across all year levels (Years 7–12)
• Tertiary qualification in Secondary Education, preferably with a specialisation in Science
• Commitment to creating engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences that cater to a range of student abilities
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate with colleagues
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
• Dedication to ongoing professional growth
• Active support and contribution to the co-curricular life of the College

Nice to have:

• Ability to teach Science ATAR
