School Counselor

About This Role

This school counselor role involves supporting the instructional process by managing student schedules and placements. It requires providing curriculum information and recommendations to students and parents, and assisting in developing goals and plans for student achievement.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with teachers, college and university personnel, resource specialists, and/or the community to provide/receive requested information and/or make recommendations
• Counsel students, parents, and guardians to enhance student success in school
• Monitor students' progress to identify issues and take appropriate action for increasing student success
• Prepare applications for students to ensure completion of application processes within designated time frames
• Prepare a wide variety of materials to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information
• Present information to communicate, gain feedback, and ensure adherence to established internal controls
• Research program eligibility requirements to provide up-to-date, accurate counsel to students
• Schedule student classes to secure appropriate placement and meet graduation and college eligibility requirements
• Supervise assigned programs to monitor performance, provide for professional growth, and achieve overall curriculum objectives
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

Requirements

• Job related experience within a specialized field
• Proper certification issued by WYPTSB or licensure issued by the Wyoming Mental Health Professional Licensing Board
• Minimum of Master's Degree in a related field
