School Bus Driver

About This Role

This role involves safely operating a bus along designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures while providing reliable transportation for children and seniors. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to customer service and the ability to maintain a positive environment on the road.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a bus along designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and mechanical soundness
• Assist passengers, including children and seniors, in boarding and alighting from the bus
• Maintain clear communication with dispatch regarding any delays or issues encountered during routes
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger inquiries and concerns in a friendly manner
• Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and regulations while driving
• Keep accurate records of passenger counts, route changes, and incidents as required
• Foster a positive atmosphere on the bus by engaging with passengers through conversation or activities when appropriate

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
• Class B Licence (required)
• Experience working with children or in senior care settings is highly desirable
• Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively, demonstrating strong teaching skills when necessary
• Must pass background checks as required by company policy

Nice to have:

• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred to effectively communicate with diverse populations
• Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks
