About This Role
Driving a school bus for Voyago and East Ferris Bus Lines involves safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience daily. This permanent position requires a safety-focused individual who can manage split shifts and maintain the vehicle's condition.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport students within your community to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience each day
- Prioritize student safety at all times, including during boarding, transit, and exiting the vehicle
- Conduct thorough pre and post trip inspections to ensure the bus remains in proper and safe operating condition
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the bus, including assisting with fueling and basic upkeep to present a well-kept, professional vehicle
- Accurately complete daily Hours of Service reports and maintain required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Immediately report any mechanical issues or concerns affecting the safe operation of the vehicle
- Address and report any student behaviour issues in a timely and professional manner, following company procedures
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety practices, policies, and regulations
- Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and care while fostering a safe and respectful environment for all passengers
Requirements
- Safety-focused
- Valid minimum full Ontario G-class driver's license (B class drivers preferred)
- 21 years of age or over with minimum 1 year of driving experience in all weather conditions
- Clean driving record
- Criminal record search with vulnerable sector screening
- Sound driving knowledge of the locations in this posting
- Ability to work independently
- Available for split shifts in the morning and afternoon
- Solid communication skills and fluent in English
- Pass both the pre-hire driving assessment and radio communication assessments or written evaluations
- Basic computer skills and can easily navigate Google Maps or a GPS unit
