Scheduler

About This Role

This role is for an organised and proactive scheduler to join a busy highways safety team. The scheduler will coordinate workloads and ensure critical activities are delivered on time, supporting a team of Safety Inspectors responsible for monitoring and maintaining the local highway network. This is a varied position where priorities can change quickly, requiring someone who can think on their feet, adapt to changing circumstances, and effectively manage multiple tasks at once.

Responsibilities

• Schedule daily inspection routes and public enquiries for Safety Inspectors
• Coordinate workloads to ensure KPI targets and service deadlines are achieved
• Adjust schedules to accommodate annual leave, sickness absence, and operational priorities
• Maintain and update long-term inspection plans and schedules
• Monitor route completion and performance against service requirements
• Provide administrative support to the wider safety team
• Coordinate vehicle-related communications, including MOTs, servicing, and fleet updates
• Maintain accurate records and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
• Liaise with inspectors and operational teams to ensure smooth day-to-day service delivery

Requirements

• Previous administrative or office-based experience
• Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to prioritise effectively in a demanding and fast-moving environment
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive working relationships with a variety of personalities and stakeholders
• Remains calm under pressure and can manage changing priorities
• Patient, adaptable, and solutions-focused

• Contract: Permanent
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours, Monday to Friday
