Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP Programme Test Manager to lead the testing workstream for a large-scale transformation program involving the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX to SAP S/4HANA within a retail environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the overall test strategy, building, and managing a multi-disciplinary testing team, and ensuring the successful delivery of all testing activities across SAP S/4HANA and its integrated applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the end-to-end Test Strategy for the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX to SAP S/4HANA.
- Lead all testing phases including System Integration Testing (SIT), End-to-End Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Regression Testing, and Cutover/Go-Live Validation.
- Establish and manage a testing organization of approximately 20 testers, including onshore and offshore resources.
- Coordinate testing activities across SAP S/4HANA and integrated business applications, ensuring complete coverage of business-critical processes.
- Develop test plans, testing schedules, governance frameworks, quality metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
- Manage relationships with business stakeholders, programme leadership, system integrators, and third-party vendors.
- Ensure timely identification, tracking, and resolution of defects and testing risks.
- Drive test automation opportunities where appropriate to improve testing efficiency and quality.
- Facilitate workshops and testing governance meetings with stakeholders across the UK and Europe.
- Provide regular status updates, quality assessments, and risk reports to programme leadership.
- Lead offshore testing teams, ensuring effective collaboration, resource utilization, and delivery alignment.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience as a Test Manager or Programme Test Manager on large-scale ERP transformation programs.
- Proven experience developing and delivering testing strategies for SAP S/4HANA implementations or migrations.
- Hands-on experience managing large testing teams of 15-25+ testers.
- Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA integration testing and end-to-end business process validation.
- Experience managing offshore and distributed testing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Micro Focus ALM, or similar.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and complex testing dependencies.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience working within the Retail industry.
- Experience with migration programs involving Microsoft Dynamics AX to SAP S/4HANA.
- Familiarity with retail domains such as Merchandising, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Logistics, Finance, and POS integrations.
- Experience working in international transformation programmes across UK and European markets.
