Safety Manager

About This Role

This safety manager role involves implementing and overseeing the project safety program, conducting training, and performing site inspections and audits. The position suits a candidate with construction safety experience who can effectively communicate with various levels of management and field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and oversight of the Project Safety Program, including the development of site safety policies and procedures
• Conduct training, new hires safety training (NEST), and safety meetings and huddles
• Perform project safety inspections and audits, and effectively communicate identified hazards, safety goals and expectations with craft and management employees and project management
• Assist with monitoring the project for compliance with safety requirements
• Understand regulatory record keeping requirements and safety administrative procedures
• Conduct safety training, site inspections, documentation audits, accident/incident investigations, and statistical input and analysis
• Develop working relationships and effectively communicate with various levels of management and field personnel
• Coach, enforce, and improve safety performance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Demonstrable previous experience within the Safety Field
• Minimum of 3 years Construction Safety experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and computer database functions
• Valid driver
• Satisfactory driving record
• Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds and carry up to 15 pounds
• Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner
• Ability to converse in basic Spanish

Nice to have:

• A four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Safety Management, or related equivalent
• Working field knowledge including: Heavy Highway and Bridge Construction, Crane Operations, Asphalt Plant and Lay down Activities, along with various other grade and utility construction
• Demonstrated performance as a safety professional (professional memberships and/or certifications)
• Applicable field experience outside the safety profession
