Safety Manager

About This Role

This Safety Manager position is responsible for creating, developing, anchoring, and supporting the execution, compliance, and continuous improvement of internal and external safety programs. The role drives a behavior-based safety culture to achieve accident prevention and loss mitigation at customer locations, and develops site-specific safety metrics to achieve corporate goals and champion initiatives to enhance safety performance.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe work practices, as well as adhere to company and client worksite safety policies and procedures
• Work daily with Site Leadership and Safety Coordinators to strategize efforts to promote safe work practices, safety awareness culture, and support compliance with internal and external requirements
• Champion site safety for conducting incident/accident investigations, subsequent documentation, problem solving, and implementation of countermeasure(s) to realize safety performance targets
• Maintain safety files and records structure for corporate and field audits to verify actual results, compliance, and business reporting to corporate and customers as needed
• Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries at company or client sites and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, insurance investigations, and those required by regulatory agencies
• Coordinate with Human Resources with drug, alcohol, and medical screening of all employees

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in EHS discipline
• OSHA 501 certification
• CSP, ASP, STS-C, IOSH and/or CHST certification equivalent
• 8+ years Occupational Health and/or Safety experience in a construction environment

Important Details

• Travel: minimal overnight travel (5%)

Physical Demands

• Standard work environment is an indoors business office and construction environment
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Requires sitting, use of hands and arms, verbal communication, and occasional physical movement such as stooping or kneeling
• Frequently required to stand and walk
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet
• Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required to do so
• May also be required to work in tight and confined spaces
