Safety Director

About This Role

The Safety Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Sterling, VA, responsible for leading and managing the company’s safety program across multiple construction and restoration projects. This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site safety audits, hazard assessments, and accident investigations
• Track corrective actions
• Report safety performance metrics to leadership
• Design and deliver safety training for field technicians and supervisors
• Coach project teams on best practices
• Collaborate with operations and project management to integrate safety into planning and execution
• Coordinate with external stakeholders such as clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies to maintain a strong safety culture and protect workers, visitors, and the public on high-profile job sites

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health principles, with proven ability to develop and enforce safety policies and procedures
• Hands-on experience in Construction Safety, including job site inspections, hazard identification, risk mitigation, and compliance with OSHA and related regulations
• Proficiency in Accident Investigation, root cause analysis, and incident reporting, with skill in implementing corrective and preventive actions
• Experience designing and delivering Training programs focused on safety awareness, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance for diverse field teams
• Previous safety leadership experience in construction, restoration, or related industries, ideally with multi-site or large-scale projects
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and collaborate with field technicians, supervisors, and management

Nice to have:

• Relevant certifications such as CSP, CHST, or OSHA 30/OSHA 500
