Safety Director

About This Role

Directing a 24/7 safety program for one of the company's facilities is the core of this role, ensuring a secure site for clients, staff, and visitors. The Safety Director leads the safety staff, who are often the first point of contact for residents, helping them feel welcome and setting a positive tone for their stay.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Safety Staff at the facility, including determining appropriate staffing levels
• Recruit, hire, and orient qualified staff
• Schedule staff to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times
• Ensure that staff members receive appropriate training and skill development
• Foster professional growth, development, and advancement for all staff
• Conduct annual performance evaluations
• Function as an On-Call Administrator, responding to emergencies, and working weekends and night hours as needed
• Review and advise on all safety-related policies and procedures
• Correct all violations and potential safety hazards
• Ensure accurate record keeping and timely preparation of incident reports, monthly reports, and any other required documentation
• Ensure that protocols for Violence in the Workplace are followed
• Serve as liaison with local Police, Fire, and other emergency agencies

Requirements

• FDNY F-80 certification and F-02 required
• Associate's degree or equivalent experience and skills
• Minimum of five years’ experience (preferably seven) in law enforcement or related field
• Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience, or capacity to work with homeless families, individuals, and/or disadvantaged populations
• Valid U.S. driver's license required
• Computer literacy with Microsoft applications required
