About This Role
Building and improving a web service for education is the core of this role for a backend engineer. You will use Ruby on Rails to design and implement new features, improve existing ones, integrate external APIs, and optimize SQL queries, working within a scrum team alongside PdMs and designers.
Responsibilities
- Develop backend using Ruby on Rails
- Design and implement new features for web services
- Modify and improve existing features
- Investigate and analyze existing Ruby and Rails code to understand specifications and processing
- Design and implement Model, View, and Controller
- Design data models and application logic
- Manipulate and investigate data using SQL
- Confirm and improve SQL query performance and safety
- Design and implement features for external API integration
- Research technology based on official documentation
- Implement test code for feature development
- Create Pull Requests and conduct code reviews
- Improve technical debt and existing code
- Promote development in sprint units
- Discuss specifications with PdM and designers
- Support technical decision-making within the development team
- Improve development processes using AI development support tools
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in developing and operating web applications using Ruby on Rails
- Experience leading development as a lead engineer
- Experience in designing and implementing Model, View, and Controller in Ruby on Rails
- Experience analyzing existing Ruby and Rails code to understand specifications and processing details
- Experience directly writing SQL for data manipulation
- Experience evaluating and improving the efficiency and safety of SQL queries
- Experience designing and implementing features using external APIs
- Experience implementing test code along with feature development
- Experience with Git-based Pull Request team development
- Experience coordinating specifications and design with PdM, designers, etc.
- Ability to continuously learn and incorporate AI-driven development methods into development

- Experience developing web services in a Scrum environment
- Experience with Claude Code for development
- Experience building and utilizing AI development environments using MCP
- Experience integrating Figma with development processes
- Experience with generative AI for design, implementation, and test support
