About the role

Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the District Sales Supervisor, the Route Sales Representative is assigned to serve as a liaison to Lottery retail accounts. The Route Sales Representative is assigned a state van and conducts field visits with a predetermined portion of assigned Lottery retailers each day to maintain direct contact with retailers and assume all functions associated with the sale of Lottery products.

This position is headquartered at the Santa Fe Spring District Office. This position is not eligible for telework. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office.

Working Conditions

  • Schedule: 8 hours as assigned Monday - Friday
  • Travel: Daily travel required; majority of position is performed out in the field at Lottery retailer locations and/or within the confines of the assigned state van.
  • Other: Work independently. Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.

In fiscal year 2023-24, the California Lottery generated sales of more than $9.2 billion with approximately $2.2 billion earned for California public schools. Lottery products are sold at more than 23,000 retail locations throughout the state, from independent neighborhood shops to convenience stores, liquor stores to supermarkets, and more. Retail product offerings include an average of 52 fun and entertaining Scratchers® games and several draw games, including jackpot games such as Powerball®, Mega Millions®, and SuperLotto Plus® and daily games such as Fantasy 5 and Hot Spot®.

Special Requirements

  • The California State Lottery Act provides that no person may be hired as an employee of the Commission if that person has been convicted of a felony or any gambling related offense.
  • This position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • This position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
  • This position requires a California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application including providing your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
