Room Attendant

About This Role

This role is responsible for cleaning guest rooms and assisting with the cleanliness of guest floor hallways, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of public areas and restrooms within the hotel. It suits an individual who is detail-oriented and committed to providing a memorable experience for guests.

Responsibilities

• Sort, count, fold, mark, or carry linens
• Clean multiple rooms daily, including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and polishing furniture and fixtures
• Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies
• Clean corridors and stairways
• Sweep and scrub bathroom floors
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
• Dust furniture
• Wash walls and woodwork
• Wash windows, door panels, and sills
• Empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays
• Transport trash and waste to disposal area
• Replenish bathroom supplies
• Replace light bulbs
• Scrub bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls, and bathroom fan
• Complete a quality check on the television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors
• Remove any items left behind from rooms and take them to Lost and Found, following proper hotel procedure
• Report any maintenance-related problems to the maintenance department through proper communication channels
• Assume responsibility for careful use of supplies and equipment issued for carrying out job responsibilities
• Obtain a score of 90% or higher on room inspections
• Acknowledge and pleasantly greet each and every guest
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all in-house products along with local area information to assist customers when needed
• Display proper organizational skills when stocking carts and ensure timeliness of cart stocking after completing rooms
• Display team effort in keeping the commercial area clean and neat
• Respond to customer needs for housekeeping supplies within 10 minutes
• Use guest names at all times upon entering an occupied room
• Check all vacant rooms daily to ensure the status is correct
• Maintain the supply room in a clean, neat, and organized state
• Display a team attitude and assist co-workers when the need arises

Requirements

• Ability to understand, read, write, and speak basic English and communicate with team members and guests
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
• Ability to comply in standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
