RN-TPT Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

About This Role

This temporary part-time Registered Nurse position in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit focuses on providing quality nursing care to complex patient populations, including preterm and critically ill infants. The role involves practicing within professional standards and the philosophy of patient and family-centered care, as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care to patients, including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable
• Practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Practice within the Philosophy of patient and family centered care, mission vision, Values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
• Use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
• Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
• Simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions

Requirements

• Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current certification in BCLS
• Recent experience in neonatal nursing with experience in the care of critical and complex patient populations including care of the preterm infant, stabilization post-resuscitation care, and care of critically ill infant
• Recent experience working with cardio-respiratory monitoring in a critical care setting
• Strong interprofessional and communication skills
• Central Venous Line Management
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to patient and family-centered care philosophy
