About the role
Role Overview The registered nurse is responsible for patient assessment, care planning, and delivering quality nursing care across diverse patient populations, including pediatric to geriatric individuals. They provide supervision to LVN/LPNs, nursing assistants, and clerical staff, and may serve as a charge nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update comprehensive nursing care plans based on assessments.
- Implement and prioritize patient care, ensuring safety and therapeutic interventions.
- Evaluate patient responses and progress towards goals, documenting daily nursing notes and flow sheets.
- Assess education needs of patients and families, adapting teaching methods accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with team members, maintain confidentiality, and report patient conditions accurately.
- Mentor and act as a preceptor to new staff and students, supporting orientation and competency validation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; RN licensure required in the state of employment or via compact licensing.
- Six months to one year of nursing experience; recent perinatal experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification; NRP and STABLE certifications are required.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
Additional Requirements
- Participation in orientation and annual competency validations.
- Compliance with credentialing timelines for required certifications.
