Risk Management Associate

About This Role

This associate role within Country Risk Management focuses on evaluating countries across various factors, including macroeconomic, political, fiscal, and monetary, to assign internal risk ratings. The team also measures country risk exposure and stress across the firm, monitoring this risk against country limits, and assesses downside risk scenarios and their potential implications to the Firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage governance of Country Risk's risk measurement methodology
• Implement changes to the group's methodology to address business, product, and country developments
• Support Country Risk Management methodology projects and initiatives
• Engage with Market Risk, Credit Risk, and business partners on enhancements to risk capture
• Support Country Risk's participation in firmwide capital stress testing exercises such as CCAR/CECL, Risk Appetite, and various legal entity level stress test exercises
• Help maintain and develop qualitative models and systemic processes to ensure stress testing activities are accurate and relevant given evolving regulatory and internal model review expectations and standards
• Stay informed about changes in regulatory guidelines and industry best practices, particularly related to capital stress testing

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, mathematics, sciences or related discipline
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Python, Alteryx and Tableau
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a detailed oriented approach
• Familiarity with credit or market risk products and measures and enthusiasm for understanding financial markets
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting and explaining complex topics
• Team-oriented personality; ability to work in small teams across functions, regions and seniority levels
• Pro-active attitude, intellectually curious, creative, adaptive, and self-motivated

Nice to have:

• Prior experience and understanding in the governance and development of risk methodologies
• Prior experience in risk management, product control or financial analysis
• Understanding of CCAR regulatory requirements and associated stress testing methodologies
• Prior experience in financial sector
• Any other risk management experience
