Restaurant Host

About This Role

Being the warm welcome for every guest, whether by phone or in person, is the core of this hosting role. You will be responsible for setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience and ensuring smooth operations at Lafayette House, making it ideal for someone with excellent communication skills and a passion for hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and direct calls accordingly
• Check the reservation book to ensure all reservations are ready
• Check with the manager to be aware of any private events
• Check with the kitchen to get daily specials and type them up for guest presentation
• Plan out the seating chart and organize reservations
• Greet guests, escort them to their table, and present menus
• Ensure the server is aware that guests have been seated
• Keep guest counts for individual servers to assure stations are evenly distributed and manageable
• Keep in constant contact with servers and the kitchen to manage the flow of guests
• Ensure dining areas, entryway, bathrooms, and menus are kept clean throughout operations
• Bid farewell to all guests and check that everything was wonderful

Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, move tables and chairs, and lift trays of dishes
• Must be age 18+
• Weekend availability
