About This Role
This varied role combines hosting, restaurant service, and bar work in a beautifully restored traditional pub with a stunning garden and pergola. You will be one of the friendly faces welcoming guests and helping to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The position suits someone who enjoys being busy, loves people, and is happy to assist wherever needed.
Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome every guest and create a fantastic first impression
- Manage guest arrivals, bookings, and table allocations
- Show guests to their tables and help them settle in comfortably
- Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about menus, drinks, and the local area
- Look after guests throughout their visit and anticipate their needs
- Build relationships with regular guests
- Manage guest questions and requests confidently and escalate any issues to the management team when needed
- Support smooth table flow and communicate closely with the kitchen and wider FOH team during busy services
- Help with private functions, parties, and events
- Prepare and serve a range of drinks, including beers, wines, spirits, cocktails, and soft drinks
- Take drinks orders confidently and ensure they reach guests quickly and correctly
- Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked bar
- Support with bar opening and closing procedures
- Restock fridges, shelves, and bar areas throughout service
- Check stock levels and communicate when products need replenishing
- Follow responsible alcohol service and licensing requirements
- Keep the bar looking fantastic throughout service, clean, tidy, and ready for the next guest
- Take food and drink orders accurately and confidently
- Understand menus and be able to talk guests through dishes, ingredients, and dietary requirements
- Work closely with both kitchens to ensure food and information reaches the guest correctly
- Run food and drinks when required
- Clear and reset tables quickly and to a high standard
- Support the team during busy services and step into different areas when needed
- Deliver attentive but relaxed service that suits the atmosphere of the pub
- Process bills and payments accurately
Requirements
- Naturally warm, friendly, and welcoming
- Loves talking to people and making guests feel at home
- Previous hospitality, restaurant, pub, or bar experience is preferable, but training can be provided
- Comfortable working at pace during busy services
- Organised and able to juggle multiple tasks without losing their smile
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable, proactive, and happy to get stuck in
- Takes pride in their appearance, their work, and the venue
