About This Role
Serving customers in a warm, accommodating, and professional manner by greeting and seating them is the core of this role. The Restaurant Host ensures a smooth dining experience for customers at Neiman Marcus.
Responsibilities
- Maintain presence at host stand / door to professionally and graciously greet and seat customers
- Monitor server performance to ensure smooth service during the customers
- Observe proper telephone etiquette
- Handle reservations through OpenTable platform (including VIPs) and any additional inquiries regarding hours of operation, specials, events, etc.
- Organize reservations, maximize seating during operating hours, and optimize staffing and customer traffic
- Adhere to established accounting procedures for all transactions, including all authorized methods of payment and maintain knowledge of the POS system
- Keep flow of service to standards (e.g., proper seating of customers to each wait station)
- Participate in daily pre-shift meetings
- Fulfill duties that may involve lifting objects (e.g., tables, chairs, highchairs, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness and presentability of all menus and menu covers
- Maintain the highest level of hygiene standards to include, but not limited to:
- Clean, pressed uniform jacket and accompanying clothing and shoes
- Clean and professionally styled hair and nails, maintained to avoid food contamination risks
- Adhere to posted work schedule and follow established procedures for schedule and shift changes
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Knowledge of OpenTable platform
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Motivated and results-driven
- Ability to interact graciously with the public and handle multiple duties at the same time
- Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills
- "Win together" mentality
- Role requires standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying 35 pounds
- Associates must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
