About the role
Role Overview Performs safe respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physicians, developing personalized care plans based on assessments and standards. Responsible for setting up, maintaining, and monitoring mechanical ventilation systems, administering medications, and operating respiratory equipment including ventilators, BIPAP/CPAP, and oxygen delivery devices. Conducts procedures such as suctioning, blood gas sampling, and analyzing results, reporting critical findings to providers. Supports NICU with specialized equipment setup and assists during bronchoscopies, ensuring proper sample handling and documentation. Demonstrates a strong knowledge of respiratory principles, equipment operation, and patient care techniques across age groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify provider orders and perform patient assessments.
- Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring safety and efficacy.
- Administer aerosol therapies and medications following policies.
- Perform suctioning and chest physiotherapy as needed.
- Support diagnostic procedures like bronchoscopy and blood gas analysis.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate from an approved Respiratory Care program with required certification (RRT or CRT) and state licensure.
- Current BLS certification; NRP/NALS and PALS/ACLS desirable.
- Minimum one year of recent skilled respiratory experience.
- Effective communication, patience, and cultural competence essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
