About the role

  • Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Location: Urbana, IL
  • Contract: 13 Weeks
  • Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week Day or Night
  • Hours: 36 hours/week

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures.
  • Evaluate patients receiving respiratory care and assess their response to treatment.
  • Complete respiratory assessments for ventilator patients and other patients receiving respiratory care services.
  • Prepare, test, maintain, and process respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.
  • Disassemble, clean, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Accurately document respiratory care, procedures, patient responses, and care plans in the EMR.
  • Enter accurate charges in the EMR.
  • Recommend timely interventions and additional treatment or referrals when appropriate.
  • Monitor and document sleep therapy compliance and patient response.
  • Communicate adverse effects, compliance concerns, and other relevant information to the Respiratory Care Practitioner and physician.
  • Evaluate patients requiring routine respiratory care on inpatient units and in the Emergency Department.
  • Assist with cleaning respiratory care equipment.
  • Assist with stocking respiratory care supplies on inpatient units.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge of respiratory care practices.
  • Maintain competency and provide safe, effective care to patients across all age groups.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care.
  • Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.
  • NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Pay: From $2,620.00 per week
