Role Description This full-time, on-site Respiratory Therapist role is based in South Bend, IN. The Respiratory Therapist will provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care, including administering oxygen and aerosol therapies, performing ventilator management, and delivering emergency respiratory support as needed. Daily responsibilities include assessing patients, interpreting physician orders, operating and maintaining respiratory equipment, and accurately documenting treatments and patient responses. The role involves collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to develop and adjust respiratory care plans, educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and home care, and adhering to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards. The Respiratory Therapist will participate in quality improvement initiatives and may assist in training or mentoring students and new team members.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Indiana; credentialing through NBRC (e.g., CRT, RRT) preferred.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Experience providing respiratory care in acute care, critical care, or emergency settings is beneficial.
  • Ability to perform patient assessments, interpret clinical data, and implement evidence-based respiratory care plans.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting respiratory equipment such as ventilators, nebulizers, oxygen delivery systems, and monitoring devices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and educating patients and families.
  • Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, and compliance with hospital policies and professional standards.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed in a hospital environment.
