About the role
General Responsibilities Manage the team that determines the safest, most efficient way to dispatch employees and/or equipment to project sites. Supports team members as they receive and manage incoming service requests (internal and external) to dispatch appropriately trained staff for the assignment.
Essential Roles And Responsibilities
- Direct the work activities of the team, providing training, performance feedback and providing dispatch oversight. Make hire, fire, pay and promotion decisions for team.
- Train dispatchers to use and improve negotiation strategies to manage resource conflicts among employees, clients and office/regional leadership team.
- Mentor other dispatchers in the region or company.
- Communicate effectively with customers, employees, and leaders.
- Dispatch for many different unique or specialty teams, departments, or offices using advanced technology (mobile applications, email, scheduling software, project management systems, etc.)
- Train and ensure dispatchers answer and manage incoming calls and dispatch employees with appropriate skills or certifications to precise locations at necessary times.
- Expert at prioritizing projects and managing logistics according to urgency and importance, utilizing negotiation skills when conflicts arise.
- Relay information and instruction to employees, their managers, and other project stakeholders (client, contractors, etc.) as appropriate.
- As the hub for the department or office, maintain communication with field units to coordinate and prioritize schedules day-to-day.
- Dispatch in an incident and injury free manner consistent with Terracon’s guidelines to keep the care and concern of employees a priority.
- Use materials dashboard, CMELMS and other tools to effectively distribute employees and balance workload.
- Collaborate with other managers in the office to ensure office duties are completed by the deadline.
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
- Time management
- Interpersonal interaction skills
- Negotiation skills
- Multi-lingual preferred in some markets
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in project management, business management, or human resources
- IIF Safety Leadership Terracon course obtained within 6 months in role.
- Complete Terracon Resource Manager training within 1 year in role.
