Research Scientist - Formulation and Development

About This Role

This research scientist role focuses on leading the formulation and development of vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements from initial concept through to commercialization. The position involves specializing in liquid and shot innovation, managing scale-up activities, and ensuring regulatory compliance for nutraceutical products.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product development for vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements from concept to commercialization across diverse formats (tablets, capsules, gummies, powders, and liquid shot drinks)
• Specialize in taste-masking, stabilization, and bioavailability enhancement of active ingredients in ready-to-drink (RTD) liquid shots and functional beverages
• Manage scale-up activities from laboratory scale to pilot and commercial manufacturing plants, ensuring robust process validation
• Ensure all formulations comply with global regulatory standards (FSSAI, USFDA, EFSA) for dietary supplements and nutraceuticals
• Collaborate closely with Analytical Development (ADL), Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Marketing teams
• Investigate formulation challenges, conduct root-cause analysis, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve yield, stability, and cost-effectiveness
• Prepare and review robust Product Development Reports (PDR), batch manufacturing records (BMR), technology transfer protocols, and patent applications where applicable

Requirements

• B.Pharm or M.Pharm from a reputed institution
• 10-12 years of progressive R&D experience in formulation development within the Nutraceutical, Dietary Supplement, or Pharmaceutical industry
• Proven track record in developing multi-format vitamin and supplement products
• Specialized expertise in liquid formulation science, rheology, and stabilization for shot drinks
• Strong understanding of excipient compatibility, shelf-life extension, and sensory profiling (flavor/taste masking)
• Exceptional project management abilities, strong cross-functional communication, and a proactive problem-solving mindset
