About the role
As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in its research pursuits. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the delivery of a food research project for people with swallowing difficulties through preparation of study samples, coordination of human participant research, data analysis and preparation of project outputs.
Key responsibilities:
• Participate in the execution and coordination of the research project with the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, collaborators and student researchers to ensure project deliverables are met.
• Prepare and manage foam food prototypes and comparator samples for laboratory and human participant studies.
• Support ethics submissions, study documentation and regulatory requirements for research involving human participants.
• Coordinate participant recruitment, scheduling and study activities at SIT and collaborating clinical sites.
• Assist with data collection, management and analysis for swallowing, sensory and acceptability studies, including frame-by-frame video analysis where required.
• Prepare project updates, reports, presentations, conference abstracts and manuscripts.
• Support procurement, risk assessment and compliance with research governance, food safety, radiation safety and workplace safety requirements.
• Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to support timely completion of the project.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Interest in human participant research, healthcare research, food science or related areas.
• Willingness to work with research participants and collaborate with clinical and academic partners.
• Prior experience in research, human participant studies, healthcare, food science, or related project work would be advantageous.
