About This Role
Researching and developing personal care products is the main focus of this role, which involves prototyping, quality evaluation, and documentation. The position suits a chemist or technologist with experience in personal care product development and formulation.
Responsibilities
- Develop prototypes
- Conduct due diligence studies such as stability studies and performance evaluation
- Perform quality evaluation, including analysis and sensorial evaluations of finished products
- Ensure documentation of prototype formulations, raw materials, stability studies, and pilot plant operations
- Maintain a library of competitor products
Requirements
- M.Sc. / M.Tech (Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactants Technology / other branches of Chemistry / M. Tech. (Cosmetics) from a reputed University, passed in First Class
- 3 to 6 years of experience in Personal Care product development and evaluations (usage and product life cycle)
- Hands-on experience in product development or formulation development, prototype development, and wet chemical analysis related to products
- Experience in handling instruments such as pH meter, Moisture Analyser, Viscometer, and other basic analytical instruments used in Personal Care
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements of soaps and cosmetics
- Involved in cosmetic formulation development activities like making batches, conducting stability and sensorial evaluations
- Exposed to and comfortable with scale-up mechanisms, batch making in pilot plant, and sensorial studies of personal care products
- Sound understanding of the principles of Chemistry, process chemistry of Soaps and solids
- Familiarity with raw materials used in personal care products and their properties
- Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
- Clarity in thoughts, enthusiastic, self-driven, and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of cosmetic, personal wash, bar soaps, and home care formulation development, wet chemistry, and instrumental analysis methods
- Knowledge of Surfactants, oleo chemicals, and Raw Material functional benefits
- Adequate knowledge on usage of basic IT and statistical tools
- Basic computer knowledge
