About This Role
This research associate role involves performing a variety of laboratory tests and maintaining a safe and compliant lab environment. The position requires adherence to quality control procedures and accurate record-keeping, contributing to a collaborative team atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Implement a safe laboratory environment in compliance with good practices and applicable regulations
- Implement and follow all accreditation guidelines, ISO 15189, NABL 112, CAP, and policies and procedures as indicated in the AmPath quality documents
- Follow internal quality control procedures as per SOPs and monitor the daily internal Quality control and record any deviations
- Inspect incoming samples against set acceptance and rejection criteria
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing
- Perform the analysis of all types of biological specimens like body fluids, blood samples, tissue, urine, bone marrow, lymph node etc. using manual methods as per lab SOPs
- Maintain all relevant documentary entries like logbooks and work sheets
- Record activities accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining legible and neat records
- Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment as per the defined program in the laboratory
- Perform daily culture room cleaning, daily maintenance of equipment, filing of log sheets and register, archiving of slides and pellets, culture set up and harvest, slide preparation, scoring, capturing, karyotyping and report preparation of all sample types and archiving of slides and TRF's as per guidelines in the cytogenetics department
- Perform FISH procedure of all types of biological specimens like blood samples, tissue, bone marrow, lymph node etc. using manual methods as per lab SOPs
- Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork in the laboratory
- Maintain clean medical laboratory equipment
- Store and discard examined samples as per the lab defined procedure
- Attend monthly department and QAD training programs and any other external training programs organized by the management
- Prepare and maintain daily inventory log
- Ensure active vaccination status
- Perform all other job-related activities assigned by Department Consultant
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other patient/clinical data
