Classification Title Research Assistant Professor

Classification Minimum Requirements Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely-related field.

Job Description This position will provide faculty-level scientific continuity, lead experimental strategy, coordinate studies across collaborators and core facilities, troubleshoot complex leukemia models, interpret integrated datasets, and accelerate the translation of findings into publications and future funding opportunities. This expertise is critical to maintaining scientific rigor, meeting sponsor timelines, and maximizing the impact of federally funded research.

In Addition, The Research Assistant Professor Will

  • Provide leukemia-focused scientific leadership for the NIH-funded T-ALL research program
  • Design, develop, and execute mechanistic studies investigating target-directed microRNA degradation (TDMD) in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
  • Establish, optimize, and maintain T-ALL experimental systems, including cell line, primary patient sample, and in vivo leukemia models
  • Perform and oversee molecular, cellular, genomic, and functional assays
  • Analyze, interpret, and integrate multi-omics datasets to generate biologically meaningful insights
  • Coordinate research activities, milestones, and deliverables associated with the NIH project grant
  • Collaborate effectively with leukemia researchers, institutional core facilities, and external partners
  • Translate research findings into peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, NIH progress reports, and competitive grant applications
  • Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and research staff in experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific communication
  • Maintain the highest standards of research integrity, laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, biosafety, and data management

This position is expected to start on November 1, 2026

Expected Salary Commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in leukemia biology, particularly T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia or related hematologic malignancies
  • Record of scholarly achievement demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience with molecular, cellular, genomic, and/or in vivo experimental approaches relevant to cancer research
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to collaborative, multidisciplinary research teams

Preferred

  • Postdoctoral or equivalent advanced research experience in leukemia research
  • Expertise in genomic, transcriptomic, and multi-omics data analysis
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting leukemia cell line, primary specimen, and animal models
  • Demonstrated success in scientific writing, including manuscript and grant preparation
  • Experience mentoring trainees and research personnel
