Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Immunology Translation Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The successful candidate will join a young and dynamic research team investigating the molecular mechanisms of innate immunity, cell death signalling, and host-pathogen interactions. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant will support ongoing research projects through laboratory experiments and contribute to studies aimed at understanding how host cells detect and respond to microbial infections. Main duties and responsibilities

The RA will:

  • Perform mammalian cell culture techniques and downstream analysis including infection assays, cytotoxicity assays, ELISA, and western blotting.
  • Assist with cloning and generation of plasmids for molecular biology experiments.
  • Assist with in vivo infection experiments.
  • Support routine laboratory management tasks such as preparation of culture media, animal genotyping and sterilization and autoclaving of materials.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  • Have a BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences, Immunology, Microbiology, or a related discipline
  • Have experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Have experience in molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and animal genotyping
  • Have prior experience in infection assay and generating bacterial mutants (highly desirable)
