About This Role
This research assistant position is focused on evaluating the East London Primary Care Education Centre (ELPCEC), an 18-month pilot program. The role involves conducting applied research at the intersection of health, education, and community wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on participatory evaluation methods. The successful candidate will engage directly with young people, partner organizations, and community settings across east London.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of a participatory evaluation framework, including developing accessible surveys, interview guides, and creative research tools
- Recruit, train, and support young people to act as co-researchers, and facilitate creative and participatory research activities
- Support qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, including thematic analysis and review of monitoring data
- Manage participant data, anonymization, and secure data storage in line with GDPR
- Draft research documentation such as participant information sheets, consent forms, and topic guides for young people and vulnerable groups
- Support safeguarding protocols and risk assessment procedures throughout all research activity
- Prepare evaluation briefings, reports, and policy-relevant outputs, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
- Liaise with partner organizations, schools, and community organizations across Newham, Hackney, and Tower Hamlets
Requirements
- Background in youth work
- Direct experience of participatory and creative research methods
- Existing knowledge of, and relationships within, youth-facing work in north or east London
- Subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to involvement of young people and vulnerable groups in the research
