About the role

About This Role

Researching and developing optimal control algorithms for utility systems such as air compressors is the core of this role. This involves modeling the physical behavior of target systems and designing advanced control systems that combine control techniques (such as model predictive control) with data processing and machine learning from diverse measurement data. The role suits a professional who can proactively lead the entire development process from requirements definition to hypothesis testing and improvement cycles, with a view to future management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop optimal control algorithms (such as MPC) for utility equipment (e.g., air compressors) and peripheral equipment
  • Develop modeling technology using ML/AI and integrate it into control systems
  • Identify control requirements considering hardware specifications and communication constraints, and design algorithms for high-speed and lightweight operation
  • Extract on-site issues, analyze requirements, and design system architecture through interviews with related departments (business divisions, sales/service divisions) and customers

Requirements

  • Expertise in control theory (classical control, modern control, etc.) and experience in applying it to actual systems and developing algorithms
  • Experience in modeling dynamic characteristics and implementing computational algorithms for fluid machinery, plant/utility systems, or thermal fluid process systems

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of data analysis and algorithm development using machine learning/AI
  • Practical experience from problem extraction to system requirements definition and architecture design through interviews with related departments and customers
  • Knowledge of system development using control devices such as PLCs, or strong willingness to actively acquire such technologies
  • Experience in collaboration and direction with partner companies in software development
  • Experience in publishing papers or presenting at academic conferences
  • Master's degree or higher

Benefits

  • Housing allowance (up to 600,000 JPY/year)
  • Dormitories and company housing
  • Cafeteria plan (equivalent to 122,000 JPY/year)
  • Child and nursing care support allowance
  • Various support systems for balancing work with childcare and nursing care (support for balancing costs, consultation services, etc.)
  • Employee stock ownership plan
  • Retirement allowance system
  • Corporate pension system

Important Details

  • Schedule: 8:50 to 17:20 (7 hours 45 minutes actual work, 45 minutes break)
  • Position: Chief Class

    About the Company

Hitachi's Research and Development Group Digital Innovation R&D, System Innovation Center, DX Engineering Research Department aims to lead change and drive DX for customers and Hitachi, focusing on the connected industry field. Through the research and development of innovative DX engineering technologies, it digitalizes social infrastructure with data and technology, continuously enhances value, and contributes to society via Lumada. The company is involved in various industrial equipment, including air compressors, and overall factory and plant utility businesses. It is actively working towards a carbon-neutral society by thoroughly improving energy efficiency and optimizing the operation of utility equipment in factories, which is an urgent task for the manufacturing industry. Within this, utility equipment such as air compressors, which account for a large part of the total power consumption of factories, requires even more advanced control technology. To solve these challenges, the company seeks talent to lead the research and development of optimal control systems for entire factories by integrating control technologies based on the physical characteristics of equipment with data science knowledge such as machine learning.
