Research Analyst

About This Role

This role involves creating and maintaining financial models, analyzing company performance, and presenting investment ideas to Analysts and Portfolio Managers. It suits an energetic and proactive individual with a strong understanding of financial statements and business economics who can engage with management and track industry and macroeconomic data.

Responsibilities

• Create financial models and analyze companies' historic performance based on these models
• Interact with the management of companies, attend conferences/management calls, and build investment hypotheses
• Present investment hypotheses to the internal team of analysts and Portfolio Managers
• Maintain and update financial models on a quarterly basis, and update the team on new developments in company performance
• Gather, populate, and analyze industry-level and macro-economic data used by the research team on a regular basis
• Periodically update datasets
• Work with the research team to analyze industry and company-specific trends, gather information, and enhance the research process
• Actively track holding companies through quarterly calls/management meetings/annual report review
• Pitch new investment ideas to the fund management team as per the investment philosophy

Requirements

• Excellent understanding of financial statements and business economics
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Energetic, proactive, and independent thinker
• Learning attitude (reading books/new subjects)
• Team player with advanced MS Excel tech skills
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related fields
• 0-1 years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, or related roles
• Strong academic track record
