Responsibilities
- Cover everything from breaking news, court, and local council to business, health, Defence, and education
- Get out in the community to chase stories, take photos, and shoot video
- Learn about the community, meet new people, and build a network of contacts
- Drive your own news agenda daily by getting exclusive stories
- Write with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Use flair for creativity in catchy headlines and intros
- Understand social media and SEO
- Learn about your audience through trends, analytics, and tools to write more appealing content
- Develop skills in multimedia storytelling using video and audio
- Work hard and build your career while enjoying camaraderie and fun in a regional newsroom
Requirements
- Enthusiastic and resilient writer
- Comfortable with getting out in the community to chase stories, take photos, and shoot video
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willing to work a rotating weekend roster and early/late shifts as required
