Release Manager

About This Role

Release Managers are responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of application and platform changes into production, with a strong focus on overnight maintenance windows where timing, accuracy, and risk management are critical. This role ensures that all code releases are properly scheduled, approved, and communicated in advance, and that deployment activities follow established processes, controls, and readiness checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the deployment of application and platform changes into production
• Ensure all code releases are properly scheduled, approved, and communicated in advance
• Confirm deployment activities follow established processes, controls, and readiness checks
• Work closely with development, QA, Platform Engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to confirm release content is validated, dependencies are understood, and implementation plans are complete before any production activity begins
• Serve as the central point of coordination for the release during maintenance windows
• Guide teams through deployment steps
• Monitor progress against the release plan
• Manage communication throughout the release event
• Help identify and resolve issues in real time
• Ensure rollback or contingency plans are ready if needed
• Confirm post-deployment validation is completed before the release is considered successful
• Support continuous improvement by documenting outcomes
• Track risks and lessons learned
• Refine release processes to improve reliability, efficiency, and cross-team coordination over time
