JOB PURPOSE
The Admissions Representative is responsible for all registration functions related to patients presenting for admissions, emergency care, short stay, and outpatient services including obtaining/verifying patient demographic information and insurance, obtaining required signatures, and the collection of applicable co-pays, deductibles, and deposits. The representative may also be responsible for the coordination of bed assignments for patients, including transfers, direct admits, ER admits, etc.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School graduate
Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes
- Data entry and/or secretary/receptionist experience helpful.
- Up to 6 months of on-the-job training plus periodic updating is provided. Previous experience in customer service or healthcare environments is beneficial.
- Communication skills, clerical accuracy, Public Relations aptitudes, scheduling, and sound judgment.
- Ability to do several tasks simultaneously, handle multiple priorities with interruption, and complete accurately and timely. Good telephone manners. Medical terminology and knowledge of insurance are helpful.
