About the role
Role Overview: The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct rehabilitative care within a skilled nursing facility, focusing on helping patients improve functional abilities and quality of life. The role involves developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, assessing patient progress, and supervising therapy staff such as OTAs and rehab aides. The OT collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care for a diverse population with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow and modify occupational therapy treatment plans to meet patient goals.
- Assess patient needs, establish measurable goals, and evaluate progress.
- Supervise and oversee therapy staff and students.
- Document patient care accurately and utilize therapy software effectively.
- Engage in interdisciplinary communication, ensuring patient safety, rights, and confidentiality.
- Participate in community health projects and maintain professional relationships.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT).
- Current licensure and registration in the applicable state, with good standing.
- NBCOT certification (renewal optional).
- CPR certification, obtained upon hire or during orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions, demonstrate good body mechanics, and work as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of post-acute care practices, laws, and regulations.
