About the role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Recovery team within an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care and PACU experience, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to provide high-quality care to both adult and pediatric post-operative patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor vital signs, pain levels, airway status, and overall recovery progress.
  • Administer medications and therapeutic interventions as ordered.
  • Recognize and respond to post-operative complications and changes in patient condition.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding post-operative care and recovery.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support evidence-based nursing practices and patient safety initiatives.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent critical care experience required.
  • Strong Telemetry background required.
  • Pediatric patient care experience required.
  • 3+ years of PACU experience preferred.

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Active New Jersey RN License or Compact RN License.
  • BLS (AHA) Certification.
  • ACLS (AHA) Certification.
  • PALS Certification.
  • Telemetry Certification.

Preferred Qualities

  • Strong post-anesthesia assessment and recovery skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and clinical judgment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage both adult and pediatric post-operative patients.
