Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

About This Role

This PRN position involves caring for antepartum, laboring, and postpartum patients, providing family-centered care that includes well newborns and the Level 2 Nursery. The role focuses on delivering expert, compassionate, and individualized nursing care while collaborating with providers, staff, and other team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This role suits an RN who is NRP certified and trained in STABLE, ready to manage both healthy and high-risk conditions in a close-knit Family Birth Center team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily patient flow to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction
• Demonstrate ability to triage incoming patient requests for services
• Deliver patient education to facilitate the plan of care, informed healthcare choices, and promote optimal wellness
• Demonstrate ability to delegate care appropriately and according to Colorado statute
• Demonstrate competent healthcare assessment skills, prioritizing skills, and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrate ability to handle high telephone volume of patient requests for medications, information, and assistance
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist in procedures as needed, consistently adhering to patient safety guidelines
• Coordinate patient care with other physician practices, Vail Health, and others as needed to achieve the highest possible level of patient care and satisfaction
• Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Deliver excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families
• Perform other duties as assigned; must be HIPAA compliant

Requirements

• One-year clinical experience required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Colorado Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Safety (ACLS) certification required
• Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018
