Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit

About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses. The Mater Private Hospital Brisbane Intensive Care Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 12-month maximum term contract, commencing in November 2026, working 36 hours per week. The team is friendly and skilled, caring for complex surgical patients, those with life-threatening medical conditions, and critically ill oncology/haematology patients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced evidence-based nursing care to patients requiring complex interventions such as mechanical ventilation and renal replacement therapy
• Monitor and interpret clinical data, using critical thinking and clinical judgement to problem solve and respond to changes in condition
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to develop and implement individualised care plans
• Advocate for and communicate effectively with patients and their families throughout complex and often challenging clinical journeys
• Engage in continuous learning and maintain up to date critical care knowledge and skills

Requirements

• 12 months post graduate experience
• Support from your current NUM
• Ability to work a flexible roster consisting of 12-hour shifts
