Job Description Role Overview: This nursing position involves providing inpatient palliative care to adult patients with chronic, life-limiting illnesses. The RN manages holistic care focusing on pain and symptom relief, patient and family education, discharge planning, and emotional support, within the Mayo Nursing Care Model.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care and care transitions.
Support professional nursing practice, leadership, and quality improvement activities.
Delegate tasks based on patient acuity, skill level, and resource availability.
Mentor, teach, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
Adhere to ANA standards and the Mayo Clinic Nursing Practice Model.
Participate in committee or project work; some roles may involve driving personal vehicles.
Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited nursing program with at least one year of RN experience.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working in teams and familiarity with electronic medical records preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Leadership qualities, critical thinking skills, and adaptability.
Current RN license, BLS certification, and valid driver’s license are required.
Additional state licensure or certifications may be necessary based on work area.
Compensation & Benefits: The pay range is $43.84 - $66.84 per hour, with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, pre-tax savings, and retirement plans. This role is eligible for full benefits.
