About This Role

Caring for patients in a Med-Surg/Behavioral Health unit is the core of this Registered Nurse position, which involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care. This role suits a nurse dedicated to professional development and maintaining current standards of practice.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of nursing care to patients and their families
• Maintain competency reflective of current standards practice
• Interact and contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues
• Integrate ethical provisions in all areas of nursing practice
• Integrate evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice
• Recognize and adjust to situations that vary from the norm
• Promote safety measures to prevent patient and staff injuries
• Guide and supervise staff in the provision of patient care
• Enhance own professional growth and development
• Maintain a safe therapeutic working environment and recognize need for action in emergency situations
• Complete documentation thoroughly and timely
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Demonstrates mastery of nursing skills
• Communicates effectively and is able to guide and supervise nursing personnel
• Current Illinois Nursing licensure
• American Heart Association CPR Certification
• ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required within six months depending on the unit requirements

Nice to have:

• At least one year of experience as a staff nurse

• Hours: Nights (7p-7a); every other weekend and rotating holidays required
