Registered Nurse

About This Role

This night-shift role on a 26-bed unit is designed to provide treatment, care, and service to adult patients with acute medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, specializing in complicated surgeries. The Staff Nurse Inpatient prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care to acutely ill patients through the nursing process, interacting effectively with patients, families, and other health team members.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement an individualized plan, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes
• Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care
• Collaborate with patient, family, physicians, and ancillary staff
• Create a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others
• Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects
• Evaluate and document the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualize the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings
• Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with others
• Strong analytic abilities
• Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role
