About This Role
This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing nutritional programs for patients, particularly in long-term care settings. The dietitian will collaborate closely with the Food Service Director to ensure regulatory compliance, quality meal service, and individualized nutrition care, focusing on the dietary needs of various populations, including geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients, focusing on individual dietary needs and preferences
- Develop tailored meal plans that promote health and wellness, particularly for weight loss and chronic disease management
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate dietary recommendations into patient care plans
- Provide guidance to support the Food Service Director in ensuring meals meet nutritional standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide education on nutrition-related topics to patients, families, and staff, including health coaching techniques
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary interventions and make adjustments as necessary
- Manage tube feeding protocols for patients requiring enteral nutrition
- Stay updated on current research in dietetics and apply knowledge of physiology to enhance patient outcomes
Requirements
- Strong background in long-term care settings with a focus on geriatric nutrition
- Proficiency in weight loss strategies and dietary management systems
- Experience in supervising dietary staff and managing departmental operations
- In-depth knowledge of dietetics principles, including tube feeding techniques
- Excellent health coaching skills with the ability to motivate patients towards healthier lifestyle choices
- Solid understanding of physiology as it relates to nutrition and health outcomes
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
