What is Región Emprende?
The Costa Rican Innovation and Research Promoter launches the "Region Emprende" call for proposals, a competition focused on supporting innovative Costa Rican ventures and startups that seek to transform their technological capabilities, promote innovation and contribute to the economic and social development in their regions.
Why participate?
"Región Emprende" aims to strengthen innovation in entrepreneurship and startups by funding disruptive technology projects that optimize products, services, or processes and generate impact on local value chains. Up to 12 projects will be funded with non-reimbursable grants!
Who can participate?
Innovative ventures and/or startups registered with the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC), as entrepreneurs, that meet the eligibility requirements. Both individuals and legal entities with projects aligned to the defined thematic areas may apply.
Types of Projects Eligible for Funding
Projects must have an impact on processes, products, or services and may belong to the following categories:
✓ Innovation or development of new products, services, and processes
✓ Improvement or refinement of prototypes
✓ Digital transformation and technological development
✓ Research and development of new technologies
✓ Implementation of emerging technologies
✓ Development of digital platforms
✓ Research and Development (R&D)
Is your business eligible?
To participate in the Región Emprende call for proposals, your business must meet these requirements:
✓ Registration with the MEIC
✓ Verifiable commercial activity
✓ Defined business model
✓ Up-to-date registration and obligations
✓ Legal representation
✓ Operating in Costa Rica
