Refrigeration Systems Quality Engineer

About This Role

As a Refrigeration Systems Quality Engineer within Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Quality, you will serve as Amazon’s technical authority on the quality of refrigeration systems throughout the design, construction, and commissioning lifecycle. You will be responsible for the inspection, commissioning verification, and specification conformance of commercial refrigeration systems, ensuring they operate reliably from day one.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of installed commercial refrigeration systems to verify conformance to approved plans, Amazon standards, and applicable codes.
• Identify installation defects and non-conformances and drive their correction with the responsible owner.
• Witness operational, pressure, and leak tests, and perform installation, operational, and performance qualifications (IOQ).
• Review design documents, drawings, and specifications for conformance; identify gaps early.
• Partner with contractors, design engineers, and commissioning agents to set quality expectations and hold partners accountable.
• Prepare inspection and verification reports, maintain quality data, analyze defect trends, and lead process improvements.

Requirements

• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• 4+ years of refrigeration industry experience or experience in reliability/maintenance environments.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration, including installation, commissioning, inspection, or maintenance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC/R Engineering, or a related technical/STEM field.
• EPA Section 608 Universal certification.

Nice to have:

• Refrigeration Trade School certificate.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level.
• Experience working with and managing third-party vendors.
• Direct experience with CO₂/transcritical refrigeration systems.
