Duties
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Responsible for the safe and proper operation of machinery and tools used in recycling.
- Responsible for picking up available recruits and directing their work effort in assisting the recycle process.
- Travel throughout the Depot and collect recycle bins, examine, process and classify a very limited variety of common, easily recognized equipment and materials.
- Follow established procedures in receiving, checking, verifying, sorting, and classifying materials and equipment by stock numbers, size classification and condition.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a RECYCLABLE MATERIAL SORTER AND CLASSIFIER without more than normal supervision such as: performing collection, receiving, sorting, dismantling, loading, and transporting metal, glass, paper products, textiles, wood furniture, rubber, plastics, and other recyclables as an expert with a high degree of independence.
